Contents of John Peel’s Record Collection to be Made Public.

Arts Council England is committing a whopping £3.5m to this digital online museum as part of a new collaboration with the BBC called The Space, but by the ‘eck it sounds exciting.

The full list of commissions can be found here and it’s quite an intriguing set of projects; I can’t wait to see the Docfest Sheffield one with a soundtrack by British Sea Power.

“From the Sea to the Land Beyond offers a poetic meditation on Britain as an island through archive of the UK coastline. Directed by Sophie Fiennes and featuring a soundtrack from British Sea Power, this cross-platform project offers audiences a moving cinematic/live music experience, as well as an online tool where users reinterpret archive footage to create their own personal, sharable mash-ups.”

Here’s an excerpt from Man of Aran, British Sea Power’s previous soundtrack project, which I love.
