In this visually stunning exhibition, Fred Langford Edwards invites us to re-consider the nature of the museum. His work investigates historical and contemporary aspects of science, exploring the cultural forces that drive changes and directions of thought and study. Many months of work in the Eduardo Estrella Museum of Medicine in Quito, Ecuador, between 2002 and 2006,
have been distilled into over a thousand beautiful photographs.

apothocaries, archives, icons, … is a Mostyn touring exhibition which showed at the Cultural Centre of the Pontificial Catholic University of Ecuador, Quito, in the autumn of 2011. A full colour illustrated publication accompanies this exhibition.

Supported by Wales Arts International, Arts Council of Wales, the Equadorian Ministry of External Relations, The Equadorian Ministry of Health and the Ecuadorian Embassy of Great Britain.

Prints from a selection of photographs by Fred Langford Edwards will be available to order from the Mostyn Shop from 24 March.

  1. it looks great! Nice shot of the Mostyn at the end too. It’s a marvelous space and I must get up there to see this show. I am hopoing to get there for the talk on what happens to the brain when you look at a painting.
