Recently we visited Llyn Cwellyn at the foot of Snowdon. I’m drawn by the folklore associated with this lake. It goes along the lines of a man took a fairy as a wife on the understanding that should he ever strike her with iron she would disappear into the lake. they lived for many years very happily, both being very fond of one another until one day when they were saddling a horse he threw over the saddle and a buckle hit her on the cheek…she vanished in an istant and was never seen again. He spent the rest of his days looking out into the lake for a sign of her.
