York St Margaret Clitheroe

01Sep11

Visited York the other day and came upon the most beautiful religious relic in the Shambles. St Margaret Clitheroe was pressed to death for hiding Catholic priests. The fragment of lace is the cuff of a sleeve said to have been touched by the saint. After her death her hand was removed and this relic can also be seen in York.
