CPH:DOX 2012
CPH:DOX—Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival—opens on Thursday November 1 with a programme of film screenings, talks, lectures, and performances centering on contemporary documentary practice. Now in its 10th year, CPH:DOX has gained international recognition for a daring programme profile that borders on visual art, performance, and hybrid genres between fiction and nonfiction.NEW:VISION competition for film and video works
NEW:VISION Award is CPH:DOX’s competition programme for film and video work in the field between documentary and artistic practice. The programme consists of works from both the worlds of cinema and visual art. The selection includes more than 20 works by Simon Starling, Luke Fowler, Keren Cytter, John Menick, Mats Bigert & Lars Bergström, Hito Steyerl, Mariam Ghani, Jesse McLean, and others. The NEW:VISION programme is screening throughout the festival from November 1–11.

Guest Curator: Douglas Gordon
Douglas Gordon joins CPH:DOX’s previous lineup of guest curators: Harmony Korine, Animal Collective, Nan Goldin and Ben Rivers & Ben Russell, and has curated an exclusive film programme which will be screening on November 5 & 6. Gordon, who won the NEW:VISION Award at CPH:DOX 2006, will be present at the festival to introduce the screenings, and to give a special Surprise Show on Tuesday, November 6.

Artist in Focus: Willie Doherty

And during the festival a curated selection of Doherty’s works from the past 15 years is screening in the museum’s cinema.

ART:FILM symposium and pitching forum
Now in its second year, the ART:FILM symposium is presented by CPH:DOX in collaboration with International Film Festival Rotterdam and the British artists’ film platform LUX as a forum and a meeting place with a mission to facilitate meetings and partnerships between artists, filmmakers, producers and other professionals working in the field between film and visual arts.

The symposium takes place on Friday, November 9, and is divided in two parts: a case study with filmmakers Ben Rivers and Ben Russell at 11am, followed at 1pm by a panel, where representatives from the art world discuss what works, how their funding structures work, whom they support and what their approaches are to the field. Panelists: Sally Berger from MoMA, Stuart Comer from Tate Modern, Isabelle Gaudefroy from the Cartier Foundation, Teresa Hoefert de Turegano from Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, and Rose Cupit from Film London.

On November 7 and 8, the CPH:FORUM is hosting a financing and co-production forum, where new projects are pitched to financiers, sales agents, museums. distributors and other film and art organisations in three categories: Cinema, Fictiononfiction, and Art.
